With the proliferation of AI and undergoing digital transformation across various sectors, STEM fields have become more popular than ever. Augmented with the vast array of lucrative job opportunities for students pursuing careers in STEM, these disciplines have become coveted and exciting areas of study.
However, pursuing a degree in any STEM field can be a costly endeavor, especially for students from low-income backgrounds. So to assist in overcoming these financial barriers, I’m pleased to share an array of STEM scholarships that can help fund your dream program.
Side note: Although the deadline for some of these scholarships has passed, it’s good to have an idea of when the next application season will begin.
List of STEM Scholarships for Women
Generation Google Scholarship (EMEA) – The Generation Google Scholarship (EMEA) was created to support students earning computer science degrees, empowering them to succeed in technology and grow into leaders in the field.
Honeywell Scholarship – Organized by the Society of Women Engineers, the Honeywell Scholarship offers financial support to individuals who identify as women and are pursuing studies at the community college, baccalaureate, or graduate level to prepare for careers in engineering, engineering technology, or related fields.
Joanne Pransky Celebration of Women in Robotics – Joanne Pransky Celebration of Women in Robotics, established in honor of Joanne Pransky, supports women pursuing education in robotics.
LPGA Chevron Changing the Face of Golf Scholarship – Established in 2022, Chevron provides this scholarship for female high school seniors from minority backgrounds who plan to pursue a full-time STEM-focused program at an accredited U.S. college or university.
Palantir Women in Technology Scholarship – The Palantir Women in Technology Scholarship is awarded to women majoring in or plan to major in the fields of computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Study.com Scholarship for Women in STEM – Study.com will be giving this scholarship to a woman student pursuing any undergraduate or graduate degree program emphasizing STEM.
Women at Microsoft Scholarship – The Women at Microsoft Scholarship will be awarded to promising high school senior women who plan to attend a vocational or academic college in the United States.
Women in Aviation Scholarships – Women in Aviation Scholarships are awarded to current members of Women in Aviation International.
WIA Foundation – Amr ElSawy Scholarship – The WIA Foundation offers scholarships to individuals who identify as women and are pursuing higher education degrees in engineering, math, or science with a career focus in the aerospace field.
Women Techmakers Scholars Program – Through the Women Techmakers Scholars Program, Google is providing this scholarship to women currently enrolled in an accredited university for the current academic year and; who intend to be enrolled in or accepted at a university in the United States.
Other STEM Scholarships
Engineer’s Council Scholarship – The Engineers’ Council offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have been accepted into a college or university for the upcoming fall term in an academic program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or the Physical Sciences. Scholarship applications are only accepted from school administrators; as self-nominations are not permitted.
FMA NBT Foundation Scholarship – The Fabricators and Manufacturers Association offers this scholarship to only full-time students and part-time students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a degree program leading to a career in manufacturing.
Generation Google Scholarship (North America) – The Generation Google Scholarship was created to support aspiring students pursuing computer science degrees. This scholarship is granted to students who plan to enroll in or have been accepted to an accredited university in the United States or Canada.
Intertech STEM Scholarship – The Intertech STEM Scholarship is awarded to high school students enrolling at or accepted to an accredited university within the United States.
Microsoft Imagine Cup – Microsoft’s leading global technology start-up competition for student founders leveraging AI technologies on the Microsoft Cloud.
Nightwing Scholarship – In partnership with Nightwing and The AFCEA Educational Foundation, Nightwing is looking for a scholarship recipient who shares their mission of promoting national security within the cyber intelligence community. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited community college or a four-year college/university.
NFPA Robotics Challenge Scholarship – NFPA is providing this scholarship to a high school senior who is a member of a FIRST® Robotics, National Robotics League, or VEX Robotics Competition team and utilizes fluid power in their robot.
NSHSS Foundation STEM Scholarship – The NSHSS Foundation offers STEM scholarships to underrepresented groups to help alleviate financial barriers for individuals with academic and leadership potential who aspire to pursue careers in STEM.
Richard E. Merwin Student Scholarship – The IEEE Computer Society is providing this student scholarship to acknowledge and reward active student volunteers in IEEE Student Branches or IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapters who demonstrate potential in their academic and professional endeavors.
SLAS Graduate Education Fellowship Grant – This SLAS grant supports educational opportunities for exceptional students pursuing graduate degrees in life sciences R&D. Eligibility for the program is restricted to educational organizations and academic institutions that provide graduate degree programs in quantitative biosciences and/or life sciences R&D.
UPE/Association for Computing Machinery Scholarship Award – Every summer, the Executive Council of UPE reviews a selection of exceptional scholarship applicants at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. To be eligible, all applicants must be members of ACM and belong to the ACM Student Chapter at their respective academic institutions.
